The Old Dominion baseball team wraps up its regular season at the Bud this weekend, starting today (6:05 pm).  Long Island comes to Norfolk with a 24-23-1 record and a few nice wins over Illinois State, Yale and North Dakota State and played the Pioneer league leader Bucknell to a tie.  ODU will wrap up the 3 game series on Saturday May 17 with a double header (1:05 & 4:00 pm).  The team has played very well this year and strived for what will come next.  The CUSA tournament starts Wednesday May 21 at Southern Mississippi and the winner of the Tournament will be crowned on Sunday May 24.

ODU has its own fate in its hands, a must win weekend with LIU followed by a good showing in the tournament should get Old Dominion an invite to the NCAA Baseball 64 team playoff.  At the present time there are several perditions out for the field of 64.  The most recent projected field of 64 from Perfect Game has Old Dominion, Long Beach State, San Diego State and Dallas Baptist as he last four teams in for the  postseason field, while Tennessee, Illinois, San Diego and UAB are the first four teams out.. The bracket set forth by PG has Old Dominion going head to head with UCF in GAINESVILLE, Fla.

Bids by conference: SEC (10), ACC (8), Big 12 (6), Pac-12 (4), Missouri Valley (3), American Athletic (3), Big West (3), Mountain West (3), Big Ten (2), Conference USA (3-2). They have Rice CUSA auto, UAB presently in and ODU as potentially as one of the last 4 in.

31 Auto qualifiers only leaves 33 at large bids available and this year has been especially competitive.
